Now that we’re fully debriefed (and decompressed) from last week’s NewFronts events in NYC—let’s talk about what’s next! NewFronts West is confirmed and will be taking place in Hollywood, CA on October 9 & 10. While the location leads us to believe a few studio power plays will be made, the IAB says it wants the LA event to get back to “NewFronts roots,” a place for digital video upstarts to show their wares (viral video powerhouse Jukin Media, for instance, will be there). We’ll keep you posted as more participants are announced.
In last week’s post-NewFronts news, a few things caught our eyes: Snapchat is fully embracing its new ad-based revenue model (and dropping licensing deals for Snapchat Discover publishers), Apple is pulling “an Amazon” (and selling subscription video), and Instagram is adding music capabilities to Stories (and maybe trying to steal a little thunder from Musical.ly). Plus, everything happening at the 71st Annual Cannes Film Festival.
