Video has long been a major part of SXSW, but this year, the messaging behind video has changed. The goal for video creation has shifted away from selling a consumer on a product, television show, or movie, and moved towards telling a story that jumps off of the screen and intertwines with the viewer’s life. Videos these days are shifting away from passive interaction and are instead encouraging active engagement. For marketers, this kind of engagement and interest will only improve the quality of time spent actually viewing. So… how do we achieve this new level of content?

Facebook tackled its video “problem” in true Silicon Valley style – with an interactive video tutorial at SXSW (http://bit.ly/2FBiFvv). And they’re not the only ones to take on interactive video this year.

HBO’s Westworld took video to a whole new level with not only their interactive exhibit but also their unannounced visit from Elon Musk. Musk, alongside Jonathan Noland (creator of Westworld), released never before seen footage of SpaceX (http://bit.ly/2Ip2nbe).
