Welcome back and happy National Cheese Day (a favorite holiday in the CakeWorks’ office). It looks like we weren’t the only ones anxiously watching the Cavs vs. Warriors the past few days; NBA finals’ viewership numbers continued to climb from Thursday’s game to Sunday’s game, proving that viewers can’t stay away from the live action.
While we definitely spent some time enjoying Manhattanhenge 2018 and following the French Open last week (get well soon, Serena!), we’ve also been closely following along with what some of the biggest names in media have been up to.
All eyes are on publishers as they start to make new deals and advantage new platforms. BuzzFeed turned to Twitch after viewership numbers declined on its Facebook Live news channel, while Vox Entertainment landed its first deal with Netflix earlier this year. We’re also seeing publishers come together on the advertising front to battle against the ad network duopoly of Facebook and Google.
